Woodlands Assisted Living, 1320 Windlass Drive, Middle River, MD - First Sunday Every Month, 2 PM to 3 PM
This is an active assisted living community where Victory Villa Baptist Church ministers to the residents each month. We have singing, dancing, crafts and a message from the Bible. We fellowship with the residents giving them encouragement and sharing God's love.
It was easy for me getting involved in this VVBC ministry. I love being around older folks and listening to their stories. It gives me a great way to witness and be Jesus to each person at the facility. This is such an easy ministry to be part of. No special training is required. All you need is a smile and a willingness to listen and speak love and encouragement into these wonderful residents lives. If you have a special talent like singing, playing a musical instrument or creating crafts, we welcome you to come share your talent here.
This is a fun ministry to be involved in. We never know from month to month which residents will be up dancing and singing along to the music. The residents especially like when our volunteers dance with them
This is an important Victory Villa Baptist Church ministry because even though many of the residents do have family that visit, there are a number that do not have family or friends come visit on a regular basis. I believe VVBC fills a significant gap in this area. We have become close to many of the residents and they are so appreciative of our visits. Each volunteer gives the same testimony: they receive so many blessings from their visit and are made all the richer from their interaction with the residents.
Victory Villa Baptist Church is such a loving, family oriented church that working beside each volunteer is like being with family. Some volunteers come every month while some can only come occasionally, just like family. It is a true ministry of love.
I believe we grow spiritually when we put our faith into action. We get the chance to share our faith and be Jesus' arms, hands and smile.
Our visits brighten the day of the residents and gives them a feeling of being important to someone. They give us a warm welcome each month and for an hour they can just relax and enjoy themselves.
I am Sharon Harris, current coordinator of VVBC ministry to Woodlands Assisted Living. For more information or to join our group call or text me at 410-967-8230. We welcome all to come join the fun.
